JUST ADD WATER

I was talking with my better half yesterday about iconic Seventies foods: meals like Coq Au Vin and Moussaka, the very first pizzas [frozen and to eat on the the high street - Pizzaland?], Mateus Vino in the flared bottles and the deliciously sloppy Toast Toppers. But we agreed that the classic Seventies meal, at the vanguard of the convenience revolution, would be completely pre-packaged and fit for an astronaut:

Menu:
Starter - Rise and Shine Powered Orange Drink [sadly no longer available] - just add water
Main- Vesta Chow Mein - just add water and fry the crispy noodles [ still available!]
Sweet - Arctic Roll - just add people [yes, it's back!]
What would your Sixties, Seventies or Eighties meal look like like?

I liked that 1970s French compromise - a hollowed out orange filled with sorbet. What were they called?

I still have a Vesta Chow Mien now and again!
I used to have a couple of those Mateus Rose bottles in my bedroom with dripping candles in them...was well sophisticated :-)

I was addicted to Blackcurrant Cresta back then too...I am still suffering cold turkey after all these years...I'd be back on five cans a day by the end of the week if they brought that back!

1974 World Cup I discovered Rise and Shine...again I loved the Blackcurrant one...I can still here the big spoon hitting the sides of the jug as I stirred it!

I also used to get these little frozen cans of concentrated orange juice you made up with water but the best was Sainsburys Jaffa Orange Juice in tins...that stuff was nectar!
